Clarity Board Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Clarity Board is a Google Calendar add-on made by Adam Abramson ("we"). This policy explains what information Clarity Board uses and what happens to it.
The short version
Clarity Board runs inside your own Google account. Your projects, tasks and hours are stored in a Google Sheets worksheet in your Google Drive and in your Google Calendar, and any project notes or weekly reviews in Google Docs in your Drive. We have no servers of our own, we don't collect or sell your information, and we can't see your worksheet or your calendar.
What Clarity Board accesses, and why
With your permission, Clarity Board uses these Google services on your behalf:
- Google Calendar. It reads your events and your calendar's time zone to total the hours you spend on each project and to find free time in your work day. It creates, changes and deletes the events it makes itself: the time you track, and work blocks and breaks if you plan your week with it. When you open an event, it can assign that event to a project, task or category, which changes the event's color.
- Google Sheets. It creates a worksheet for you, or uses one you choose, and keeps your projects, tasks, deadlines, completed tasks and logged hours there. It opens no other spreadsheet.
- Google Drive (only files it makes). If you ask for project notes or a weekly review, it creates Google Docs for them in folders of its own in your Drive ("Clarity Board — Project Notes" and "Clarity Board — Weekly Reviews"). It can see and change only the files it created itself, never the rest of your Drive. A weekly review is written from your logged hours, calendar events and completed tasks, and linked from an all-day event on your calendar.
- Settings. Your preferences (such as your work days and hours), your time zone and whether a timer is running are stored in your Google account's storage for the add-on (Apps Script user properties). Only your account can read them.
What we receive
None of your calendar events, worksheet contents or settings are sent to us.
If Clarity Board hits an error, a technical error report is written to the add-on's error log in Google Cloud, which we can read so we can fix problems. These reports describe what went wrong in the program and may include a short piece of the data being processed at the time, such as a task name. They are kept for 30 days and used only to fix errors.
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply.
If you request access to the beta, we receive the email address you give us and, if you fill them in, your name and what you'd like to use Clarity Board for. We use them to share Clarity Board with that Google account, to send you the link and beta updates, and to keep track of who has access. They are stored by our website host (Netlify) and in our own email. Ask us at any time and we'll delete them and remove your access.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone. Clarity Board contacts no services other than Google's own. The beta request form is handled by our website host, Netlify.
How your data is protected
- Your data stays in your Google account. Your worksheet, calendar events, Docs and settings are stored only by Google, in your own account. We have no servers or database of our own, so no copy of your data is kept anywhere else.
- Encrypted in transit and at rest. Clarity Board reads and writes your data only through Google's APIs, over encrypted HTTPS (TLS) connections. Google encrypts the stored data at rest.
- Only the access it needs. In Google Drive, Clarity Board can open only the files it created for you. It reads your calendar only to count hours and find free time, and changes only the events it made or the ones you assign.
- Kept apart from other users. Clarity Board runs separately for each person, as that person. Your settings are stored in your account's own storage for the add-on, and no other user of Clarity Board can read them or your data.
- Restricted access on our side. We can't open your worksheet, calendar or Docs. The only thing we can see is the error log described above. It is kept in Google Cloud, only the developer's account can read it, that account is protected with 2-Step Verification, and entries are deleted after 30 days.
- If something goes wrong. If we learn of a security problem that affects your data, we'll fix it, tell you by email without delay, and describe what happened and what we did.
Google API Services
Clarity Board's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
- You can stop Clarity Board's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by uninstalling the add-on.
- Your worksheet and any notes or review Docs stay in your Drive, and the events it created stay in your calendar, until you delete them. Uninstalling doesn't delete them.
Children
Clarity Board isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and describe the change on this page.
